Accessible Drinking Fountain

The Green Initiative Fund (TGIF) helped support the SLLC in installing an accessible water fountain and bottle fill station. While originally slated for the Domes, SLLC staff supported students in relocating when the original site proved untenable (fountain installed April ‘25; fill station installed March ‘26).

Irrigation schedule: During the winter rainy season, little irrigation will be needed unless there are prolonged dry spells. It is important the soil does not completely dry out during the establishment period (first 1-2 years). During summer and dry periods, the irrigation will be turned on ~2x month for a minimum of 4 hours. Since many of the chosen species are drought-tolerant CA natives, it is extremely important not to overwater as this can cause disease, root-rot, and shorter lifespans. Many of the species do not need water after the first 1-2 years of establishment; however most can tolerate some supplemental summer water which will keep them greener, an important consideration for aesthetic appeal as well as fire safety.
